The faculty and students in CNU's Government Department devote themselves to the study of politics. Published scholars well known in their fields of expertise, our professors are committed to your education and success. Plus, many engage themselves in real political and public affairs as consultants, advisors and commentators.
We offer courses covering all four principal subfields of political science: political theory, comparative politics, international relations and American politics. As you explore diverse ideas and research methods, you will gain exposure to a wide array of viewpoints and perspectives on both political issues and public affairs.
You will also take your education beyond the classroom. We encourage student involvement in practical research - from public opinion polling in Virginia to projects covering such diverse topics as human rights in war-torn countries, the proliferation of nuclear weapons and the management of federal agencies. You can also participate in our chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (national political science honor society) and Phi Alpha Delta (pre-law fraternity).
